1. Your school fees are more than just numbers. The way you price and arrange the items on your bill can be a reflection of your business identity, how you view and treat your competitors and how you value your customers. That’s why it’s important to have a carefully planned pricing strategy.

2. What’s your total package? New Parents are not really interested in those numerous items broken down on your bill. They plan based on the total package. It doesn’t even excite them when you say they are going to afterwards pay a particular smaller amount termly. All they see for now is the total package, just like when you rent a house and total package is unbelievably higher than the annual payment. Check how you feel when this happens, that’s how parents feel too.
3. Our research has shown that a major reason many parents are disgruntled with their schools’ billing methods is that the one off items do not just justify their costs. Items like wears, textbooks, stationery, etc are usually overpriced. The prices you quote for these items ‘suggest’ too evidently that you want to extort the parents. More so, you’ve mandated they buy them in school, when they could get better quality and lower prices of the same items in the open market.
4. I know you’re already planning next term’s bills. That’s why I’m teaching this now. Please spend some time to think about it this time. Many of us simply reprint the old bills every term. Some of us have bills that look as simple and dry as ‘reminder’ slips. Criticize all the items you have on that bill, try to model in your mind what your parents would feel about them. Sometimes I ask myself, if I’m the parent, receiving this bill, will I take this ?
